POTUS threatens sanctions, place tariffs on goods from nations blocking return of their citizens from USA.
In 2017, the Trump Administration ordered the State Department to cut off/limit visas to Sierra Leone, Eritrea, Cambodia, and Guinea in response to their refusals to take back nationals that the USA is attempting to deport and many of whom have criminal convictions under their belt.
As a result, U. S. Embassies in Eritrea, Cambodia and Sierra Leone ceased issuing B visas (temporary visitors for business or pleasure) to government officials and family members depending on rank; and in Guinea, the issuance of “of B visas (temporary visitors for business or pleasure), and F,POTUSJ, and M visas (temporary visitors for student and exchange programs) to Guinean government officials and their immediate family members” were also discontinued.
Good for America. While these countries have no problem with their criminals entering the United States illegally where they will continue their crime spree, the governments of these nationals are refusing to issue the travel documents necessary to expedite the return of nationals to their homeland.
Americans owe nothing to these countries or their citizens. The same goes for our government which is why President Donald Trump is taking off the gloves.
During a round table last week at the Border Patrol National Targeting Center in Virginia, in addition to sanctions, the President threatened to issue tariffs on goods entering the United States from those countries refusing to take back their nationals, as part of his America First initiative.

In a meeting with State Department, Defense Department, and Homeland Security officials, Trump promised to put tariffs on the goods of countries and sanction others that refused their nationals in an “America First” initiative that past administrations under President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama failed to implement.
But if they don’t take them back, we’ll put sanctions on the countries. We’ll put tariffs on the countries. They’ll take them back so fast your head will spin. We’ll just tariff their goods coming in, and they’ll take them back in two seconds. You have a lot of people from those countries, and they’ll take them back. [Emphasis added]
We’ve had a very weak policy. We bring them back; they say, “We don’t want them.” And why should they? They killed five people. Why would they want them? And we will do something with regard to sanctions and tariffs, where they will — your head will spin how fast they get taken back. Okay? Every country is the same[…]
