The one and only Mark Steyn had a few things to say about the special elections in his own inimitable style:
I’m still laughing at Mark Steyn’s characterization of the bogus ‘Russia’ scandal – “Deep State Dinner Theater!”
I liked this tweet as well:
Well, the Special Elections are over and those that want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN are 5 and O! All the Fake News, all the money spent = 0
Mark Steyn of course is completely right. Einstein’s classic definition of insanity applies…doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, That’s exactly where the leadership of the Democrat Party is now. Oddly enough, what’s left of sanity in the party, the 18 member strong Blue Dog caucus of conservative and Centrist Democrats is meeting with top aides of President Trump, doing exactly what Steyn and President Trump suggested; opening discussions to come to agreements on issues like tax reform to come up with policies Democrats- sorry, the Blue dogs, at least – can work on and support.
>While the Democrat media is characterizing this as Trump being desperate to break the DC logjam I see it as strategy, splitting the Blue Dogs off from the radical left that now has control of the Democrats. Based on the constituencies most of them represent (primarily in Red States) not only does he have a good chance at getting them to work with him, he might even get some of them to switch parties. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) who has consistently voted to support President Trump’s agenda is said to be fairly close to doing that already.
