What’s the real story behind Right Wing and Left Wing in America?

In America, the term Right Wing is misused to imply that conservative Americans are fascists lusting for world domination; in fact, the opposite is true.

Right Wing Left Wing Conservative

(As my regular readers (to whom I am endlessly grateful) know, I was away from my blog for some time caring for a relative who had surgery. Being away that long gave me time to think about “going a little crazy,” as Bob Ross likes to say when he adds another tree to a painting. In my case, “going a little crazy” meant wondering if I could do a video as well as a podcast.

In addition to the time spent researching how to do go about making a Power Point video (I’ve got to start somewhere), it took me six hours to create a 35 minute video and companion podcast. They both are a little glitchy, but not bad for a first effort. I will get better.  But I will never forget my readers, so here is the same content in written form.)

The idea for this video came when I ended my trip with a much-needed massage. Because this is Tennessee, my masseur is a liberty-oriented man so, in the midst of a far-ranging conversation, he asked this question: “Why are conservatives called “fascists,” when fascism is a socialist doctrine?” An excellent question, and one I wanted to answer here.

The reality is that, even though the media loves to talk about “right wingers” (although never left wingers), there is no “left wing” versus “right wing” in America, at least as those terms are understood in the rest of the world. Instead, we only have liberty versus tyranny, along with the supporters of both those ideologies.

Ironically enough, although the French Revolution post-dated the end of the American revolution by six years, the terms “right wing” and “left wing” are leftovers from that overseas kerfuffle. Let me explain.

The French Revolution had as its slogan “Liberté, égalité, fraternité.” Liberty, equality, fraternity! In the context of the French Revolution, those words were always lies.

At the start of the Revolution, France had an absolute monarchy that sat on top of a large, equally absolutist aristocracy. It was not a sustainable system, and the revolutionaries intended to topple it. However, unlike the American revolutionaries who envisioned limited government coupled with individual liberty, that’s not what the French wanted. Instead, the revolutionaries imagined an absolutist commune, with the monarchy and aristocracy replaced by an equally controlling cabal of “the people.”

But what, you may ask, does this have to do with “left wing” and “right wing”? Simple. In the French Parlement during the lead-up to the Revolution, the representatives who sought to retain an absolutist government led by the monarchy and the aristocracy sat to the Speaker’s right. The representatives who sought to replace the existing government with an absolutist government led by “representatives of the people” sat to the Speaker’s left.

And that’s where the terms still used today in American and around the world came from: Those on the right seek to “conserve” the old ways; those on the left seek to upend them. Except, as I’ll develop at greater length, America has not traditionally had any cognates to this European left/right divide.

And now we get to my favorite chart, one that, for convenience’s sake, uses a left/right continuum to show how there are two sides to the political spectrum:

On the left (although it could just as easily be portrayed on the right side of the line) is absolutist, totalitarian government, something with which we are all familiar. It exists under many names – monarchy, socialism, communism, democratic socialism, fascism, theocracy, etc. – but it always plays out the same: maximum government control; minimum individual liberty.

Meanwhile, on the right side of the continuum (although I could have easily placed “liberty blue” on the left), is the political system that has limited government and maximum individual liberty. At its extreme, it’s anarchy. Otherwise, it’s . . . well, it’s really only the American experiment. Everywhere else in the world, government control is the standard.

So what is the American experiment? It was build on Britain’s Magna Carta and its 1689 Bill of Rights. That last document was a statement of limitations on monarchical.  William of Orange and Queen Mary II had agreed to this Bill of Rights in order to to attain the British throne in the wake of 1688’s “Glorious Revolution.” (It was glorious because King James II fled, rather than going to war.)

If you look at the British Bill of Rights, you’ll see many echoes in our own Bill of Rights. However, the British Bill of Rights limits only the monarchy. Parliament was not limited, which is why it felt free to impose all sorts of restrictions on British citizens in the American colonies.

When the Founding Fathers decided to draft a Bill of Rights, they did it correctly. Instead, of stating the items as a negative charter (as Obama wrongly put it), one that simply tells government what it can’t do, the Founders stated our Bill of Rights as a set of rights inherent and inviolable in every individual. No government – no monarchy, no legislature, no judiciary, no official whatever – should be able to impede those rights without a high showing of necessity.

Hold that thought in mind as we look at the three most common forms of government outside of America in the years since WWI.

First, we have socialism, which exists not only as a free-standing form of government (National Socialists), but also as an umbrella term for the evil twins of communism and fascism. Under communism, there is no private ownership. Everything – and everybody – belongs to the government. Examples, all of them tyrannical, are the Soviet Union, China (despite its faux market economy), North Korea, and Cuba.

Back in the 1930s, fascism put a softer face on communism, because it did not nationalize all private property, instead limiting itself to nationalizing a few major industries, especially fuel and transportation. However, there is no freedom in a fascist country. Mussolini provided the ultimate definition of fascism: “All within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state.” (I also include today’s oligarchies in the list of fascist states, since they function much the same way.) In the World War II era, fascist states sought world domination and, in Germany’s case, included genocide and slavery in the service of an imaginary “master race.”

Today’s Europe is still fascist, although that would no doubt horrify Europeans were you to tell them that. Under both EU rule and the governments of the individual European states, there is private ownership, but major industries, especially transportation, are still nationalized. Moreover, the EU and the individual governments tightly control every aspect of people’s lives.

(When it comes to nationalized services, I have a real bee in my bonnet about these “soft” socialized states’ so-called “cradle to grave” care, something my parents’ European-based friends and family boasted about non-stop. These benefits had nothing to do with socialism. They were available in Europe because American taxpayers funded European defense costs during the Cold War. It wasn’t socialized medicine; it was American medicine. Now that the Cold War has ended and the money isn’t flowing as much, European socialized medicine is cratering.)

The difference between today’s European fascism and Hitler’s is that (a) it’s not called fascism today and (b) it’s not yet engaged in world domination and anti-Semitic genocide. However, given the speed with which Muslims are populating Europe, all in thrall to an Islamic doctrine that calls for world domination and anti-Semitic genocide, I think it won’t be long before Europe starts to repeat the 1930s.

The third type of government in the world today shows up in monarchies or theocracies, both of which thrive, and are often intertwined in the Middle East. Whether it’s Mullahs in Iran or Kings in Saudi Arabia, these are totalitarian governments that use religious doctrine to control every aspect of their citizens’ lives. (In Saudi Arabia, Prince Muhammed bin Salman is slowly trying to change this but, since he holds the tiger by the tail, it’s a very delicate and dangerous process.)

And then there’s America, which has a totally different system, one that, in its purest form, does everything it can both to limit government power and mob rule. There’s nothing else like it in the world.

The American political system as the Founders envisioned it has a limited federal government composed of three parts – executive, legislative, and judicial – each with unique spheres of power, each with some control over the other branches, and each jealous of its own power as a bulwark against any branch becoming too strong.

The Executive branch eschews pure democracy in favor of an Electoral College, forcing presidential candidates to campaign in every state (as Hillary learned to her cost). Without this, all presidents would be elected out of population centers. If the Democrats were able to do away with the Electoral College, something they’re trying to do through the grossly unconstitutional National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, all future American presidents would be elected by California, New York, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Washington.

Under the Legislative branch, we have two organs. The Senate was originally meant to have its members appointed by each state’s governors, ensuring (a) that the Senators would be responsive to their states and (b) that no senator would be enslaved to the passions of the mob. The 17th amendment changed that in 1912, probably not for the better.

The House controls the power of the purse and, before the 17th Amendment, was the only branch of government with direct democracy. House members must go back to the voters every two years to make their case. This is why impeachment begins in the House and why the current refusal to have a formal impeachment – which would force House members to make their positions known to their voters — is a direct betrayal of the voters.

Finally, the Judicial branch is the least democratic part of our government, for its members get selected by the President, get approved by the Senate, and then sit for life. In theory, it is impartial and rules only on whether matters are constitutional or unconstitutional, a power Chief Justice Marshall arrogated to the Court in the early 19th century.

In recent years, the federal judicial has boldly grabbed for itself both legislative power and executive power. The legislative power appears in its finding emanations of penumbras to justify federally sanctioned abortion, something never contemplated in the Constitution, and writing whole romance novels to allow gay marriage, another concept far afield from the Constitution. Both these issues belong in the states until such time as the Constitution is formally amended. As for executive power, every time some podunk judge in a Leftist district blocks a facially valid executive order from President Trump based upon the judge’s interpretation about the purity of Trump’s mind and soul . . . that’s an improper exercise of executive power.

Lastly, as I said before, our Founders gave us a Bill of Rights holding that certain rights are vested in the people and that the government cannot infringe them. This is extraordinary and differs from all other constitutions in the world, each of which is an endless book of bureaucratic does and don’ts.

So what kind of cool stuff flows from a limited government and a Bill of Rights? For starters, we have free market capitalism, which has been doing wonders since President Trump reformed taxes to leave more money with citizens and cut back on onerous regulations.

Strikingly, our Democrat Party presidential candidates have no room in their platforms for the free market. Bernie is a stone-cold communist. As an aside, given that he’s been alive for the greater part of the 20th century and all of the 21st (to date), he must know about the tens of millions dead and enslaved under communism (a knowledge sadly denied to uneducated millennials). That he still supports communism despite this knowledge means either that he’s the most stupid man ever to walk the earth or an evil tyrant wannabe. Neither reflects well on him or the voters who support him.

Warren also should know better, but I can attest to the fact that she’s stupid. Maybe evil too, but definitely stupid.

The most recent example of the disrespect the Left has for the free market comes from Kamala Harris, another candidate who is dumb as a rock, only dumber. Her candidacy is in free fall, so she’s promising to seize private property to prop it up. (Incidentally, I don’t think the government should fund private companies, but it’s important to note that, government aid notwithstanding, these are still companies with shareholders, employees, and profits.

Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris on if drug companies do not comply with her mandatory set drug prices: “I will snatch their patent so that we will take over” Audience asks: “can we do that?” “Yes, we can do that! Yes, we can do that! … I have the will to do it” pic.twitter.com/gpU8nnGt6h — Ryan Saavedra (@RealSaavedra) November 23, 2019

Another benefit we have is social mobility of a type that never existed anywhere else in the world before America. I created a little photo montage, just off the top of my head, of people who have attained success in a way that would not have been possible without America:

In America, the fact that your grandparents were rich doesn’t mean you will be, and the fact that they were poor doesn’t mean that is your fate either. We make our own fate in America.

One of my favorite rights – and one that I came to late in life – is the Second Amendment right to bear arms. I think this picture says it all:

In Nazi Germany, the government seized arms as a prelude to seizing people. A government should always stand in awe of its people’s right to defend itself against tyranny.

People should also be able to defend themselves against evil-doers in their own community. Mexico, a rapidly failing state, with appalling gun violence and skyrocketing murders, has some of the toughest gun control laws in the world.

Of course, the Democrat Party desperately wants your guns. Beto, before dropping out, was open about this – and please note the audience roar of delight:

And then there’s the right to free speech. In England, the cradle of free speech, it’s already gone:

Free speech isn’t doing so well in Leftist America either. In New York, you can be find $250,000 for “misgendering” someone. And in California, when it comes to long-term care facilities, it’s the law that you can be fined for “misgendering” residents there too.

So, going back to my chart and the left/right divide, here’s what you need to know about the rest of the world: it’s not tyranny versus liberty; it’s two different types of tyrants fighting each other for total control over citizens. In America, we have half of that equation. The American left wants total control over American citizens:

“We’re not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that’s fairly earned. I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money, but you know, part of the American way is, you can just keep on making it if you’re providing a good product.” – Barack Obama (net worth $40,000,000).

“You built a factory out there, good for you. But I want to be clear. You moved your goods to market on the roads that the rest of us paid for. You hired workers that the rest of us paid to educate. You were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for.” — Elizabeth Warren (net worth $18,000,000).

“I will snatch their patent so that we will take over.” – Kamala Harris (net worth $4,000,000).

“Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15.” Beto O’Rourke (net worth $10,000,000-$15,000,000).

On the opposite side of the political aisle in America, however, things are different. Conservatives don’t crave power. They crave a smaller government that leaves citizens alone to pursue their own lives, and that concerns itself solely with such core issues as national security, a stable legal system, functional transportation across the country, and managing (God forbid) major health crises.

“A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have.” – Gerald Ford

“No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth!” – Ronald Reagan

With the above in mind – American conservatives are the sole political movement in the world dedicated to individual liberty – why are American conservatives called “right wing” or “fascist,” terms that are tied to totalitarian control, while American leftists are called “liberal,” implying a dedication to individual liberty? It’s time for a little history lesson to answer that question.

Back in the 1930s, Hitler and Stalin both presided over socialist governments. The former was fascist (private ownership but government control), while the latter was communist (no private ownership of the means of production). They were hideous, evil fraternal twins of socialism.

As is often the case with sibling rivalry, the two countries (and their leaders) hated each other. Nevertheless, in August 1939, a week before Hitler invaded Poland, sparking WWII, Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia entered in the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. Under that pact, they swore to be neutral vis-à-vis each other in times of war.

When Hitler invaded Poland, Soviet Russia did nothing. Taking their cue from Russia, in America, communists also took a very lukewarm stance against Hitler.

The Pact ended abruptly on June 22, 1941, when Hitler initiated Operation Barbarossa by invading the Soviet Union. When America entered the War, it found itself allied with Russia against the Nazis. On the American home front, communists instantly became staunch and fervent anti-Nazis.

However, when the war ended, with the Allies victorious, and socialist/fascist Germany in ruins, American communists had a problem: Fascist socialism stood exposed as one of the most evil ideologies of all time. How were they to protect communist socialism, which was also one of the most evil ideologies of all time?

The answer was to create a false syllogism that took hold in academia and media, and that now controls American thought:

Communists and Fascists were enemies.

Communists helped win World War II, with the war’s end providing unquestioned proof that Fascists were completely evil.

Communists and American Republicans are enemies.

Republicans are therefore akin to Fascists and, like fascists, must be completely evil.

And what’s the moral of this story?

Next time someone accuses you, or any other conservative, of being “fascist” or “right wing,” object vigorously. You are a person committed to individual liberty as opposed to being a slave to an all-powerful government (no matter how woke, intersectional, and politically correct that government claims to be).

Bookworm Beat 10/23/18 — the invading mob from the south and open thread

There’s still much to say about the mob heading for our southern border, not to mention transgender madness and the upcoming election (plus yodeling).

A reader explains the invasion. I am so fortunate to have such smart readers. In this case, the smart reader is Ms. L:

Several comments/observations on the mob (and I use that word intentionally) traveling from Central American to our southern border:

– Pictures show very few women and children. Yet we are told that these two groups make up most of the mob. Pictures I have seen show young men between 15 and 30. And the news from Guatemala (I think it’s that country.) expelling 100 ISIS warriors does not fill me with confidence that all these people are harmless.

– Marchers are carrying flags from Central American countries and defacing the American flag. And these people want to become Americans? (I know they don’t, they just want our social benefits. But this is never questioned by the MSM, even when they see this mob waving their flag and burning ours.)

– None of the pictures show any of the mob carrying anything – no luggage, sacks, etc. I’m pretty sure if I were to leave my and set off across a thousand miles or more, I would take everything I valued plus extra clothing, water, and food. None of these people seem to be carrying anything. Yet, there they are crossing into Mexico. (Yes, I know that they are funded by George Soros, et al. but the MSM seem incapable of investigating such an obvious inconsistency. Just like in the first comment.)

– It clarifies my thinking about this “mob” when I consider that a “Division” in the US Army is composed of 2 to 4 brigades. A Division thus can have 10,000 to 30,000 soldiers. I don’t think it’s that big of a stretch to see this mob, which intends to physically storm our southern border, as an Army Division. I doubt any American, unless of the extreme left, would not oppose such an assault. I would support President Trump sending the military to close the border and station the military to prevent this “Division” from entering the US.

– If America does not stop this mob, Central America will only send more.

A final observation, when Nancy Pelosi, etc. are on TV supporting this flouting of our laws and offering support for this kind of activity, I wish someone interviewer would ask, “How many is enough?” How many are we supposed to take in? When will should it stop?

One thing I always do when considering an issue, is carry the thought to the logical extreme. In this case, it means accepting anyone who can get here. If done, America will no longer be. Do Pelosi, etc. want this to happen? I know Pelosi and her cohorts have enough money to insulate themselves and their children from the consequences of their actions, but what about grandchildren, etc.? They may have enough money to insulate themselves from the immediate consequences, but long term is another matter.

I pray that President Trump continues to have the strength of his convictions and the fortitude to ignore the yapping dogs at his heels.

I heard on the radio that the mob has modified their course and are heading to Tijuana. Interesting end point: California, a sanctuary state. I’m sure this is in hopes of setting up a confrontation between President Trump (and the US Army) and Governor Brown (and the California National Guard). If nothing else, the chaos of Californians vs the Army will allow most of the mob to cross the border and claim refugee status. Were I President Trump, I would address the nation regarding this situation and announce the closing of the border and the movement of the Army to its defense. Drastic, yes, but I think the bluffs must be called. There is one in play from the mob and I think there would be another bluff from Governor Brown and the rest of the Democrats.

I must think a little more about the situation, but those are my first thoughts. This is a “defense of the nation” moment and we must decide if we are to be a nation of laws or just a large area that is nothing special and anyone can be here.

Hear! Hear!

The sound of silence. Speaking of hearing, we’re not hearing a lot from the Democrats regarding this caravan. One would think it would be a major PR coup for them, what with all those *ahem* women and children yearning to breathe free. Monica Showalter, though, noticed that the Democrats have shied away from this one:

Where’s Sen. Chuck Schumer to weep some blubbery tears for the migrants?  Where’s House minority leader Nancy Pelosi to fill us in on the state of their souls?  Where’s the phony rhetoric from ex-president Obama about unskilled, illiterate, and non-English-speaking aliens being an “asset” to our country instead of a drain on its finances?  Where’s Sen. Bernie Sanders advising us they’ll be great socialist voters?  Where’s Hillary Clinton to tell us they “are citizens” or something of that sort?  Where’s Rep. Luís Gutiérrez to blame America for the whole thing?  Where’s Kamala Harris with her love for the cameras?

Nothing.  Nada.  Zip.  Zilch.

This draws me to think they might just be running scared.  The nonstop coverage of the migrant march, run by a Chavista socialist group called Pueblo Sin Fronteras, (which features lots of links to the Venezuelan-financed Chavista press) and which has drawn huge panoramic camera shots across the nation’s television sets of an army of migrants marching to the U.S. and its vast benefit packages, simply cannot be a good thing for them ahead of the midterms.

Remember, these are not your ordinary refugees. As with the Muslim invasion of Europe beginning in 2015, we are not seeing here refugees fleeing war torn countries, death squads, famine, or genocide. These are young men in congenitally screwed-up countries who want both to take America’s riches and to visit upon her the same political and civic life that has ruined their own countries. Don’t believe me? Maybe you’ll believe Judicial Watch about the people in this military-sized mob invasion force:

Besides gang members and mobs of young angry men, the Central American caravan making its way into the United States also consists of Africans, Bangladeshis, Sri Lankans and Indians. Judicial Watch is covering the crisis from the Guatemalan-Honduran border this week and observed that the popular mainstream media narrative of desperate migrants—many of them women and children—seeking a better life is hardly accurate. Guatemalan intelligence officials confirmed that the caravan that originated in the northern Honduran city of San Pedro Sula includes a multitude of Special Interest Aliens (SIA) from the countries listed above as well as other criminal elements and gang members.

There are also large groups of men, some with criminal histories, aggressively demanding that the U.S. take them in. During a visit to the Guatemalan town of Chiquimula, about 35 miles from the Honduran border, Judicial Watch encountered a rowdy group of about 600 men, ages 17 to about 40, marching north on a narrow two-lane highway. Among them was a 40-year-old Honduran man who previously lived in the United States for decades and got deported. His English was quite good, and he said his kids and girlfriend live in the U.S. Another man in his 30s contradicted media reports that caravan participants are fleeing violence and fear for their life. “We’re not scared,” he said waving his index finger as others around him nodded in agreement. “We’re going to the United States to get jobs.” Others chanted “vamos para allá Trump!” (We’re coming Trump) as they clenched their fists in the air. “We need money and food,” said a 29-year-old man who made the trek with his 21-year-old brother.

Journalist Sara A. Carter adds a little more information:

And what about the finances behind this mob? Kitty Hawk argues that the photographic evidence for once doesn’t point at George Soros, although one has to assume that his organizations are pitching in. Instead, she points to . . . China and Leftist churches:

[H]is name is Bartolo Fuentes, a former Honduran “lawmaker.” I hate to see what “laws” he created, because, as you shall see, he is one of those who doesn’t believe in laws, only Communist anarchy.

The following images are from his Facebook page and the organizations he links to. #1 clearly shows the magic word of who’s funding this melee: China.

[snip]

Churches: lots and lots of Churches. The Roman Catholics, encouraged by their Socialist Pope Francis, are numero uno. They are the ones providing much of the money for their travels and putting them up for the night: [see photo at the link.]

But the Catholics are not alone. No, sir. Funds are also pouring in from leftists within the Baptists, Lutherans, Episcopalians, Quakers (the Friends Service Committee), and of course the Unitarian-Universalists.

Read the whole thing here.

I have no idea if her theory is true, but in the absence of solid information from reliable sources — and in the face of the U.S. media’s resolute determination not to investigate the mob invasion — her theory is as good as, and as interesting as, any other.

Trump vows a strong response to this assault on America’s sovereignty. According to this tweet, which is accompanied by a video showing the overwhelming number of military aged young men heading towards America’s border, Trump has promised to activate America’s troops:

Assuming he said this (and yes, I’m too lazy to check on what Trump actually said), I hope Trump means it and isn’t just blowing smoke. Since we don’t yet have a brick and mortar wall, we need a human wall, composed of well-trained, well-armed American service men and women.

I love it when Trump trolls Obama. Thank goodness Twitter is afraid to knock President Trump off its site. Trump’s tweets are priceless:

I’ll add that it’s only a shame that Obama proved not to agree with Obama. As in, he was lying through his teeth when he made that statement.

Remember this when people say Trump lies: Trump puffs about the things that don’t matter, and tells the truth about things that do — and he keeps his promises. Obama consistently lied about things that mattered — and repeatedly broke his fraudulent promises.

The new immigrants are not interested in assimilating. Illegal immigrants don’t have much interest in assimilating. As noted above, many wish to bring communism to America. Others are open about their hatred for the country they’re invading. Others just want money; they have no commitment to their new country, something that’s especially true for the illegal immigrants who currently keep Mexico’s socialist, corrupt economy afloat with American dollars.

Scratch a young Democrat, find an Israel hater. We can say with pretty much 100% accuracy that the up-and-coming generation of Democrats is anti-Israel:

A Democratic congressional candidate in New York denied Israel is a “Jewish democracy.” Antonio Delgado, who is running against Rep. John Faso (R., N.Y.) in New York’s 19th Congressional District, made the comment during debate on Monday.

“Being pro-Israel and being pro-peace is critical, but I’m also pro-democracy, and as currently constructed, Israel is not a Jewish democracy. Those settlements make it so that it can’t be,” Delgado said.

As you can see, Delgado tried to dress his animus up as just ordinary criticism, but the reality is that he, like every other young Democrat, has bought the Palestinian narrative hook, line, and sinker.

If you’re a Jew who supports the only Jewish state and liberal democracy in the Middle East and you still vote Democrat, what the heck is wrong with you?

Don’t believe all women. Women lie all the time. They do that because humans lie. People also probably lie because as a culture we’ve moved so far away from the Ten Commandment’s mandate not to bear false witness. In 2018, people (especially women, I believe) also lie because there are narratives greater than truth — for example, the toxic masculinity rape culture narrative.

I remain convinced that Ms. Blowsy-Fraud lied like a Leftist politician to achieve a political goal. I found her initial accusation incredible, and her failure to introduce any evidence whatsoever —  not to mention the fact that her named witnesses all denied her story — proved that my initial instincts were right on the money. Still, she was part of a grand tradition that is rooted deep in totalitarian societies.

Irina Eremia Bragin grew up in Bucharest, Romania, during the communist era, with two handicaps: She was Jewish and her father was an imprisoned political dissident. It is from that background that she writes I Survived A Totalitarian Regime. ‘Believe All Women’ Is A Recipe For Disaster:

Having grown up in a police state, I don’t take my American civil liberties for granted. A survivor of political persecution, I cherish the presumption of innocence above all. My mother, Regina Abramovici, and her family survived the Holocaust in Romania. Religion was banned by the communist government; anti-Semitism was against official policy, but my mother told me from a young age not to tell anyone I was Jewish. Although Russian troops saved the Jews of her home-town, Braila, before the Nazis fully implemented the final solution, Regina, age 9, was denounced by a neighbor for breaking the law forbidding Romania’s “dirty-Jew-enemies” from bathing in the Danube and almost ended up in a concentration camp.

I cannot forget the history of false accusations against my people that led to pogroms and genocide.

There was no presumption of innocence, no due process and no equality under the law in communist Romania. Like in all totalitarian systems, the regime cultivated an environment of suspicion, accusation and investigation. Denunciation bandwagons were effective means of dividing people and turning them against each other, transforming friends, spouses, relatives, colleagues, neighbors, lovers, and even children into enemies, rivals and informers.

Sanity regarding transgenderism. I heartily applaud the Trump administration for trying to reinstate biological gender for matters of law, especially Title IX. As Walt Heyer, who lived for eight years as a woman explains, transgendered people experience enormous mental suffering, but too often that suffering doesn’t have to do with “being the wrong sex.” Instead, it has to do with a horrified rejection of their own sex due to childhood sexual trauma:

Many trans folks, after years of “living the life,” now want to detransition. Many report to me that they were sexually abused, raped, or molested at a young age—in one case, as a toddler.

Teenage girls are flocking to gender change as an escape. One 15-year-old girl, who the gender experts diagnosed with gender dysphoria, explained to her mother that she wanted to “erase my past” because she was sexually abused by her dad.

In another case, a young 14-year-old girl confessed that “I used being trans to try and escape being scared about being small and weak. I thought that if I presented myself as a man I’d be safer.”

Another girl’s mother wrote that her daughter was raped at age 19 and desperately “is trying to remove any connection to her being female visually or sexually.”

This is the kind of suffering that has driven many to change genders. As a society, we need to honestly consider: Is changing genders an effective long-term treatment for past sexual abuse and feelings of insecurity?

In the face of this type of psychic trauma (or, as seems to be the case for young women, peer pressure), the last thing medical practitioners or society should do is race to slice and dice children while filling them with hormones that cause cancer, sterility, and heart disease.

Moreover, for those who have a hormonal balance that tells their brain they are one sex, even as their biological reality is another (something I think is more common because of pregnant women who were recently on The Pill), the answer is to give them hormones aligning their brain with their body, rather than the reverse.

For those Lefties who insist that the science supports them (it doesn’t), Matt Walsh has the ultimate test:

It would be rather simple, and should be extremely easy, to prove that sex doesn’t exist and gender is a spectrum, or they’re both spectrums, or however the Left is phrasing it today. If gender is not a simple binary system, then all the Left would need to do in order to prove this point is locate one human being, anywhere in the world, who has the reproductive capacities of both sexes. They would just need to present one example of a person who has the natural ability to impregnate and be pregnant.

Indeed, if sex is not binary, if there really is a liquidy spectrum of hundreds or thousands of different genders, then there should be a Venn diagram with “Can get pregnant” in one circle and “Can get others pregnant” in the other, and millions upon millions of people in the intersecting circle in the middle. But there isn’t. There is no one in that middle circle. There is no middle circle at all. Every human belongs to the male circle or the female and nobody has ever crossed from one to the other. It looks like we have ourselves a binary system, by definition.

Currently, thanks to the rabid Left, we are effectively giving diet pills to anorexics. This is insanely cruel and will go down in history as one of the worst chapters in American child cruelty.

Vote like it matters, because it does. Here’s the deal in the upcoming elections: It’s irrelevant if you don’t like Trump as a human being or if your local candidate is a wishy-washy RINO. What matters is that we don’t let Democrats take over either house in Congress. (And please, for goodness sake, if you’re in Florida, don’t let far Leftist corruptocrat Andrew Gillum win.)

Doing so will bring to a grinding, screeching, horrible halt the Trump economic miracle, not to mention Trump’s return to sanity on trade, national security, border security, gender, etc.. This is the election (a) to vote and (b) to vote a straight Republican ticket if you can. (We in California can’t, but that’s a story for another post.)

Remember, Democrats don’t like you, they don’t like America, and they don’t like individual liberty:

And they really don’t like Trump:

Nazi? Antifa? The Babylon Bee is here to help:

The difference between the real world and the internet.

Yodeling as you’ve never heard it before. If you like yodeling, you have to watch this video. And if you don’t like yodeling, you probably should watch a little anyway because Franzl Lang’s yodeling chops are extraordinary:

To leave you on a happy note. Just so you go off smiling (if the yodeling wasn’t enough), Don Surber summarizes Trump’s economic accomplishments.

And that, I think, is enough for one day.

Bookworm Beat 10/22/18 — the Honduran invasion edition and open thread

This Bookworm Beat is about more than the slo-mo Honduran invasion, but that figures largely here, hence the post’s title.

A round-up of ideas and information about the Honduran invasion. When thousands of military age men threaten to storm your border, there’s only one proper description: “an invasion.” All that other stuff — economic migrants, refugees, huddled masses — is euphemism intended to obscure the reality that inherently dangerous people [i.e., military age men and men from terrorist-supporting and non-Latin American countries] are announcing loudly and clearly that will ignore American sovereignty and invade our country.

I don’t doubt that women and children are sprinkled throughout this horde to make good television when Trump (God willing) stops them at the American border but, again, that’s not the bulk of the group. Instead, those women and children will find that, just as the Palestinians like to place children front and center for maximum propaganda impact when Israel finally fights back against deadly provocation, so too are these women and children unwitting tools in the Leftist war to destroy American sovereignty.

As it happens, we don’t need to guess what this invasion will look like. First, we saw a trial run with the children’s invasion on Obama’s watch, an invasion that came complete with diseases, MS-13 and other criminals, and a new cohort of anchors for chain migration. We’ve also seen the adult version play out in Europe over the past three years and it has, at best, strained Europe’s economy and, at worst, led to sexual assaults on women and children, increased property crimes, murders, racially-based violence, and terrorism.

Immigration should be based upon the capacity and desire of the receiving country, rather than the demands of those unfortunate enough to be residents of countries distinguished by corruption, theocratic dictatorships (that the immigrants want to bring with them), and economic failing. If these military-aged young men want to improve life, let them turn back home to Honduras and take a stand against crime and corruption there, rather than bringing those society-destroying vices here.

One of the things that may have struck you is that those young man are moving at a bizarrely rapid clip. Could it be that they’re not marching at all but are getting a little help? Why, yes it could:

However many trucks are working the convoy now, they’re going to need more — while Mexico made some ineffectual efforts to stop the original invasion at its own borders, that failure has emboldened others to join:

New estimates cited by El Universal, a Mexican newspaper, say the caravan now has 14,000 people, many of them already in Mexico while others still wait. {Emphasis mine.)

Another thing that someone found noteworthy is the clothes these “spontaneous” refugees are wearing:

And then there’s the flag under which they’ve chosen to march, as well as the flag they’ve chosen to burn:

(As always, the Daily Mail has a great gallery of photos, showing the marching mob’s testosterone, child pawns, and violent impulses.)

Again, this is not a “migrant movement.” It is a full-fledged, planned invasion of a sovereign nation.

Moreover, as Don Surber notes, an invasion of this size, complete with transportation and publicists, is bigger than George Soros funding it by his lonesome (although I’d be very surprised if he were not involved):

Caravan adults will work for under-the-table wages that are off the books. This allows them to collect welfare. Their employers don’t have to pay the 7.65% employer match to payroll taxes or provide health insurance.

Illegal aliens can live in America working for less than minimum wage if it is off the books. That is because they still collect welfare and get Medicaid in addition to their untaxed pay.

They do better than legal citizens who make minimum wage.

The Chamber of Commerce does not want to stop this because it provides cheap labor.

Mexico does not want to stop this because so many illegals send lots of money home.

This is why other nations, nominally allies, allow the caravan to head north.

[snip]

This is a well-financed caravan aimed at using women and children to hide the real intent of this movement. Corporate interests are with cheap labor. Conservatives only fool themselves if they think George Soros is alone in this venture.

Wolf Howling contends (and I agree) that those Americans funding this enterprise need to be found, arrested, prosecuted, and imprisoned for extended periods of time.

By the way, if any Leftist says to you “but Posse Comitatus,” ignore him or her because that person is ignorant. The Posse Comitatus Act exists to prevent a president from using the military against Americans. It cannot possibly be extended to prevent using the American military to protect Americans from an external invading force.

I’ll wrap up with Trump’s tweets on the invasion:

I hope Trump means it about cutting off funds to the countries allowing this to happen (something Roger L. Simon thinks, as I do, will benefit these same countries by forcing them to address their internal failings) — and I hope he has the balls and the spine to do what it takes to block this invasion at the border.

Trump is no totalitarian, says one who knows. Arthur Chrenkoff was someone I followed religiously during the early years of the Iraq War, because he was one of the smartest bloggers out there on the subject. A long time ago, though, he signed off, saying that he had found himself a great full-time job that precluded blogging.

Had I been paying attention, I would have seen that Chrenkoff is back (although I hope he continues to have his great job) and that his blogging is as intelligent as ever. That last is obvious from his wonderful post entitled Dear Resistance, listen to my lived totalitarian experience — you have no effing idea what you’re talking about, which is based upon his youth in communist Poland:

So to all the women dressing up in costumes from “Handmaid’s Tale” who think they’re on the brink of living in a misogynist theocracy,

To all those calling themselves “The Resistance”, as if they were the French Maquis or the Polish Home Army shooting collaborators and derailing trains after their country has been brutally occupied by a totalitarian foreign power,

To those who think that America is currently in a grip of fascism and are calling on the military to stage a coup to remove the President (that’s you Rosie O’DonnellSarah Silverman, Congressman Steve Cohen and others),

To the celebrities and commentators, from Michael Moore to former security officials like John Brennan, who think the United States is on the brink of dictatorship,

To all those who have compared Trump to Hitler,

[snip]

you really have no idea, and I mean it with the greatest possible respect. Actually, I don’t. Most of you are supposedly mature, rational adults but you seem to have at best the most superficial knowledge of history and a complete lack of self-awareness, any sense of perspective, and an ability to contextualise. Having spent your lives relatively free of hardship, deprivation and persecution on any remotely comparable scale to people in other, less fortunate corners of the world, you probably get some frisson from believing yourself to be big actors at a critical time in history, the last line of separating civilisation from the descent into new dark ages. You’re free to engage in whatever ideological cosplay you want, but don’t expect others to take you seriously.

Please read the whole thing. It’s very enlightening.

Speaking of totalitarianism, doctors are on the march again. Many doctors are Leftists. This is because all doctors are college graduates and all colleges have become propaganda factories for Leftist ideology. That’s why so many doctors are on board with the idea that pediatricians, as part of the health check they conduct on their patients, need to find out if Mom and Dad are exercising their Second Amendment rights.

Having integrated that notion of political activism into the mental circuits of doctors, Leftist doctors  now have a new crusade. Per the New York Times, Doctor’s Should Tell Their Patients To Vote:

A prescription for democracy — not something you get at your average doctor’s visit — is increasingly on the minds of medical professionals these days.

The goal of doctors and nurses is, of course, to improve the health of our patients. We treat the immediacies of illness — antibiotics for pneumonia, inhalers for asthma — but good health requires much more than medications. We have to think about lifestyle: what our patients eat and how much they exercise. But a healthy lifestyle requires adequate housing, so some health centers are now helping homeless patients find a place to live and asthmatic patients rid their homes of mold. And in a country like ours, without universal health care, helping our patients stay healthy means that we have to be concerned about whether they have health insurance.

Suddenly, like Dr. Virchow, we are recognizing that our purview extends to the entire structure of our society and that politics is, as he put it, “nothing else but medicine on a large scale.” Political decisions that affect insurance coverage, access to medical care, housing, minimum wage, immigration law, water sources — just to name a few examples — exert medical effects that are comparable with those of major diseases. Just ask the people of Flint, Mich.

What’s hilariously funny about the above-quoted opinion piece is that it argues (of course) for voting Democrat. As you think about that, please think about the fact that:

  • Flint is an entirely Democrat-run city
  • San Francisco has more fecal matter on the streets than some Third World countries, which is a manifest public health risk.
  • Southern California has massive typhus and hepatitis outbreaks.
  • The illegal immigrants flooding America’s southern border for the past ten years (at the Democrats’ request) have brought with them the wonders such as drug-resistant TB, chicken pox, hepatitis, scabies, chagas, and all sorts of ailments that had been pretty-much tamped down in modern America.

If doctors really want to improve their patients’ health through the ballot box, they’d better tell their patients to vote for Republicans.

I refuse to get outraged by the Lefts’ outrage. Not only am I engaging in the rectification of names when it comes to the “caravan that’s actually an invasion,” I’m also completely on board with Kurt Schlichter’s rectification of outrage. Or, as he says,

This may shock you, but I care less that a bunch of foreign barbarians killed a foreign barbarian supporter in a foreign country than I do about illegal alien foreign barbarians here in America killing Americans. A lot less.

This is yet another example of my – and perhaps your – shameless wrongthinking. I reject the elite’s fussy paradigm of Things That We Must Pretend Matter. I will stubbornly exercise my right not to get exercised over yet another outrage ginned up by people who are determined to manipulate me. It just ain’t happening.

[snip]

In the current convulsion, our moral and intellectual betters who make up our glorious elite are in a fake frenzy because Third World thugs are acting like Third World thugs. That Khashoggi guy was a journalist, damnit! Journalists are special! He wrote for the Washington Post, so he matters…not like that Kate Steinle girl, who was just some American who got in the way of a bullet fired by an illegal alien who the elite ensured was not deported. Everyone get mad, and then let’s cut loose our ally Saudi Arabia, which happens to be the long-term policy goal of the same liberal elite pushing this crisis. Weird how that works.

Oh, and how dare you mention that Khashoggi cavorted with Hamas and al-Qaeda types and generally loved radical Islam and hated America.

I’m not pro-chopping up political opponents, which I only feel the need to state because some willfully obtuse lib jerk is going to claim my refusal to freak out over bad people acting exactly like bad people act means I support chopping up political opponents.

Kurt’s point about avoiding the wrong types of outrage is why I’m blogging about a Honduran invasion but am not blogging about the Khashoggi story — which is an Iranian/Turkish narrative that our anti-American media gleefully pushes in hopes of destroying our ally, Saudi Arabia.

I’ll be the first to admit that the Saudi kingdom is a totalitarian Muslim nightmare and that it destructively pushed Wahabbism around the world. Having said that, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, so the fact that Saudi Arabia aligns itself with Israel and the U.S. against Iran’s pursuit of world domination is something that matters more to me than the death of an al Qaeda loving, Muslim Brotherhood loving, antisemitic, anti-American, anti-Israel Saudi spook. Also, I haven’t forgotten that Saudi Arabia’s crown prince, Mohammad bin Salman, is trying pretty darn hard to drag his kingdom back from the sharia abyss.

(As an aside, I have read and highly recommend Kurt’s recent book, Militant Normals: How Regular Americans Are Rebelling Against the Elite to Reclaim Our Democracy. I’ll definitely review it, but first I want to write a post reviewing Mike McDaniel’s and SENTINEL’s superb License to Kill: The Murder of Erik Scott. There’s an order to these things, after all, so look for the reviews in the coming week.)

Corey “HimToo?!” Booker. Somehow the media is un-outraged by the fact that a gay man has raised a very credible rape claim against New Jersey Senator Corey “Spartawuss” Booker:

(You can read the documents more easily here.)

Under the standard that Spartawuss himself advanced, the gay sexual assault claim is true and the burden is on Spartawuss to rebut it with absolute, irrefutable proof that it could not have happened. But as I noted above, the media seems singularly disinterested in putting Spartawuss on the hot seat.

I happen to find credible the underlying contention that Booker is gay — not that there’s anything wrong with that. And I mean it: There’s nothing wrong with Booker being gay. There is something wrong, though, with him pulling a Hillary and pretending he’s not.

Will Hillary run again? And is there something even scarier than Hillary out there? I think if Hillary’s alive in 2020 (which seems iffy given her ongoing health problems), she’ll run again. If she is alive, of course, she won’t be the Walking Dead candidate. Instead, she’ll be the almost-a-Zombie candidate, driven to run because there’s nothing else in her head.

Michael Goodwin goes one further, saying that Hillary will have to run, because she’s still the intellectually bankrupt Democrat Party’s last, best hope:

In fact, shutting her up might push the party even deeper into the wilderness.

Implicit in the charge that Clinton is the problem is the assumption that others are the solution. It’s a fair point — until you try to name any Dem who has a better shot at serving as the party’s leader, uniting it around a message and potentially defeating Trump in 2020. After all, that’s the job that is vacant.

Goodwin then goes on the list the various Dumbo-crats shuffling around in the pre-election corral: Corey “HimToo?!” Booker, Kamala “the Slut” Harris, Kirsten “I will do anything to win” Gillibrand, and many more familiar names. Goodwin however forgot the most dangerous Democrat: Michelle Obama.

Despite Michelle’s periodic gaffes about never being proud of the country, she managed to keep her nose clean during Obama’s time in office, the media adores her, and women’s magazines spent eight years priming American women to accept her. She’s articulate, vicious, and a guarantee of Obama’s and Jarrett’s third term. I fear her.

Here’s one who can’t win. Michael “Creepy Porn Lawyer” Avenatti has repeatedly asserted that he can win against Trump in 2020. By doing so, Avenatti has also made it obvious that he’s bat guano crazy.

The recent $4.85 million judgment against him is only the tip of Avenatti’s financial iceberg. A remarkably in-depth post at The Daily Beast details Avenatti’s high-flying lifestyle, along with his consistent pattern of defaulting on debt obligations, including child support and taxes:

Both the Eagan Avenatti law firm and a shuttered Seattle coffee chain, which Avenatti says he no longer owns, owe millions in unpaid taxes and judgments, according to court documents and filings with local recorder’s offices.

Tax liens filed in Orange County also show that Avenatti has personally owed at least $1.2 million in federal taxes on top of the corporate debts. One lien, filed in February 2018, was for $308,396, while another filed in August 2015 showed a balance of $903,987. The Daily Beast did not find records showing the liens were released, but Avenatti claims both debts were “fully paid.”

As you read the article, you’ll see that those serious financial defalcations are only the beginning.

Remember: Democrats are not democratic. One of the things you might have noticed about my blog is that I never write “Democratic Party.” I always write “Democrat Party.” Not only is the latter the correct official name for the party, the former is a misnomer, as there’s nothing democratic about a party that throws Electoral College votes to its chosen candidate, rather than the people’s (stupid) choice. Moreover, this is a party that has two tiers: the all-powerful elites at the top and the mob at the bottom. Again, nothing democratic about it.

And you know who else gets that the Party has a naming problem? Donald Trump. Yup. Listen:

It’s not the weapon, it’s the culture. In Israel and Switzerland, every adult is trained to use arms, and both countries have citizens who rarely commit violent crimes, especially gun crimes.

England used to have legal guns while maintaining a low crime rate. Now England has no guns, and London has banned all sharp objects including screw drivers, but the knife crime rate continues to escalate in both frequency and intensity:

The number of stabbing victims with life-threatening injuries treated by specialist trauma doctors has increased by 34% in two years, according to NHS figures obtained by the Guardian.

Doctors are also reporting an increase in the severity of attacks, with victims increasingly arriving in hospital with multiple puncture wounds

“Previously we used to see one or two wounds per victim. Now we are frequently seeing multiple wounds, five or sometimes 10 stab injuries on a single patient”, said Dr Ross Davenport, a consultant trauma and vascular surgeon at the Royal London hospital in Whitechapel, east London

Figures from nine of the NHS’s 11 regional major trauma centres in England that treat adults and children show that they dealt with 1,697 victims of serious knife crime in 2015-16 but 2,278 in 2017-18 – up 34.2%. Cases involving adults have risen 37%, whereas under-18s have jumped by 24.4%.

At King’s College hospital in London, the number of adults treated for knife wounds rose from 249 in 2015-16 to 406 last year. The capital’s three other major trauma centres also saw big increases over the same two-year period.

Other cities have also seen the same trend. At Southampton general hospital, cases have almost doubled in the past two years, with the number of adults rising from 68 to 134 and under-18s from seven up to 13.

Hospitals have also treated more child stabbing victims. At the South Tees trust, they rose from 10 in 2015-16 to 26 last year; and from three to 12 at Oxford’s John Radcliffe hospital.

English culture had become non-violent over the centuries. In the last 20 years, though, the English have imported violence — and now they’re stuck with it (pun intended). Or as Brendan O’Neill says about Britain’s “moral cowardice”:

Britain is a country where a politician putting his hand on a middle-class woman’s knee causes more outrage than the sexual abuse of scores of working-class girls by men from Pakistani backgrounds.

It’s not the weapon, it’s the culture.

The Left’s sick, sick culture. Despite his NeverTrump monomania, Kevin Williamson is still a brilliant cultural commentator. His insights are clearly on display in The Witches of Bushwick, which takes as its starting point Leftist witches who want to make Justice Kavanaugh “suffer”:

Dakota Bracciale, owner of the [witch][ shop, tells Newsweek: “We know the system is broken, and the people in charge need to be taken down by any means necessary, magical or otherwise. . . . This is basically Antifa witches — we’re coming for these people’s throats.”

Question: Does that sound like a disagreement about politics to you?

Occasionally, our friends on the left do us the favor of making plain that which conservative critics have inferred about their ranks: that they are intellectually unserious, that they are damaged, that they are high on rage, that they have made a religion of politics.

[snip]

Bracciale: “We will never stop, we will never be silenced. There are a lot of angry people who are righteously filled with rage that are going to take back our country.”

“Righteous rage” is the great addiction of the moment — not opiates, not nicotine, not sugar — and it is a very tough habit to kick.

[snip]

The witches of Bushwick are not resolved that Justice Kavanaugh has erroneous views about constitutional interpretation — they are resolved that he must suffer.

Suffering was the secondary aim of the smear campaign launched against Kavanaugh by Senator Dianne Feinstein and other Democrats during his confirmation hearing: If the primary objective (defeating Kavanaugh’s nomination and delaying another until Democrats are in a better position in Congress) could not be accomplished, then at least the Democrats could pursue the secondary objective: using any means necessary, magical or otherwise, to inflict suffering on Kavanaugh — and on his wife, on his children, on his friends and colleagues — as a warning to future nominees, a strong disincentive for leading legal minds to forgo the relative ease and affluence of a top-flight legal career for the relatively low pay, drudgery — and, now, obligatory and systematic slander — of public service.

All that rage ends in a very ugly, profoundly un-American place.

Those people need a reminder about what makes America great (h/t Seraphic Secret):

Another one of Norway’s Greatest Generation bites the dust. Looking at today’s Norway, it’s hard to imagine that it was once pro-American and that it once had a cohort of moral young people dedicated to liberity. Bruce Bawer has written a lovely elegy honoring that generation, especially Joachim Ronneberg, who helped prevent Hitler from going nuclear during the war (literally) and who just passed away at 99 years old.

Funny or horrifying? You decide. This short video of women (in Spain? Latin America?) flexing their political muscle is definitely NSFW.

A flowery coda to my Japan trip. Two days after I got back from Japan, I followed a link (and I don’t remember where I found the link) to an article about Japanese floral arrangements for funerals. Needless to say, they are stunning.

By the way, if Japanese culture fascinates you, you should check to see whether your local television carrier offers a show called Cool JapanI can’t recommend it enough as a wonderful way to catch up on all things Japanese.

Robert Spencer at David Horowitz Freedom Center Discusses War on Freedom of Speech

Last week, Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch spoke at the David Horowitz Freedom Center, subject of which is the Islamization of America and the war on freedom of speech.  See Spencer’s speech below as posted on Vimeo. You can read the transcript here (excerpt below) courtesy of Front Page Magazine.

Spencer discusses the growing threat of Islamic totalitarianism in the United States, i.e., the Islamo-Marxist war against free speech and free thought from the likes of Southern Poverty Law Center, CAIR, politically correct bureaucrats, the Communist media complex, Google, Facebook and Twitter and even PayPal (courtesy of SPLC).

TRANSCRIPT (excerpt) post introduction of Spencer by David Horowitz:

ROBERT SPENCER: I am very grateful for all your kind words and, yes, you know, the flagship publication of the David Horowitz Freedom Center is Front Page Magazine, and if you go to Front Page Magazine, on the masthead it says, “Inside every liberal is a totalitarian screaming to get out.” (Laughter) And they’re getting out. (Laughter) Now, it’s happening.

We have seen, especially after the incident in Charlottesville, which apparently was a Neo-Nazi psychopath who drove his car into a crowd of Leftists — I say “apparently” not because I subscribe to any wild conspiracy theories or anything of that kind, but there are a lot of questionable aspects to that whole incident. One of the most notable ones being that the organizer of the Alt-Right or Neo-Nazi or White Supremacist or whatever it was demonstration was a member of the Occupy Movement and an Obama organizer just last year. And so you gotta wonder did he undergo such a rapid conversion to this supposed Far-Right and become its leader in such a short time, or is there more to this than meets the eye?

But in any case, whatever happened there, the Left has been using the incident at Charlottesville to try to once again overreach and make sure that no dissenting view can be enunciated, that absolutely nothing except the Far-Left agenda can be spoken in the public square.

And after Charlottesville, they have been using it, using that incident to move in for the kill. And one of the chief weapons that they have been using in doing this is, of course, the notorious hate group list of the Southern Poverty Law Center. And the Southern Poverty Law Center, as many of you know, started out in the ‘70s. I was one of its early donors, and I wish I could get that money back. (Laughter) But, anyway, it was fighting the Klan and Neo-Nazis, and who could object?….
