Sunlight is the best disinfectant: Trump’s order declassifying documents

Trump’s order declassifying documents related to the “Russia Collusion” narrative is the best way to destroy Deep State bullies and reveal government rot.

I am delighted that Donald Trump issued a sweeping order declassifying a huge bolus of documents related to the Russia probe:

The documents ordered declassified are a handful of pages of the June 2017 application to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to continue surveillance of Trump campaign aide Carter Page, which originally began in 2016. Trump also ordered all FBI reports of interviews prepared in connection with all surveillance applications of Page be declassified and released.

Trump also ordered that all FBI reports of interviews prepared in connection with all Page surveillance applications be released.

Trump also ordered the declassification of all FBI reports of interviews DOJ official Bruce Ohr prepared in connection with the Russia investigation. Ohr had a close relationship with former British spy Christopher Steele, the author of the dossier connection Trump to Russia. Steele was hired by Fusion GPS, the same opposition research firm that Bruce Ohr’s wife, Nellie Ohr, was contracted by.

Trump also directed the Justice Department and FBI “to publicly release all text messages relating to the Russia investigation, without redaction,” of Comey and Ohr, as well as former FBI Deputy Director Andre McCabe.

The text messages of Peter Strzok and Lisa Page were also ordered to be released without redaction. Strzok and Page were both part of the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server, as well as the Russia investigation.

Sadly, the DOJ and FBI can still drag their feet on this (which I guess explains why he issued the order now. making it a September surprise, and not closer to the election):

The process to declassify will likely not be immediate, as the documents still have to be examined by the Justice Department, FBI and Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

“When the President issues such an order, it triggers a declassification review process that is conducted by various agencies within the intelligence community, in conjunction with the White House Counsel, to seek to ensure the safety of America’s national security interests,” a DOJ spokesperson said in a statement. “The Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are already working with the Director of National Intelligence to comply with the President’s order.”

Even with a time delay, though, this sweeping order tells us that Trump has a clean conscience. He knows that there is nothing in that trove of documents that can hurt him.

Moreover, because Trump is a pleasantly vindictive man who believes in destroying his enemies, I’m willing to bet that the documents show Obama administration and generic Deep State collusion and malfeasance before and after the election. I’m also willing to bet that, to the extent we’ve already seen redacted versions of some of these documents, the redactions will prove to have been put in place, not to protect national security, but to protect Obama and Deep State officials who engaged in scurrilous activities.

Even if there’s bad stuff for Trump and Co. in the documents, it’s time to know what really went on, rather than having spoon fed to us the Deep State and media versions. I doubt that there’s anything too bad, though, not only because Trump wouldn’t have issued the order if things were bad, but also because Democrats are in a wild frenzy over the order.

Take, for example, hard Left Rep. Eric Swalwell, who issued a tweet again to a Victorian spinster’s scream of horror upon seeing a mouse.

Swalwell’s outrage would be more credible were it not for his past “dares” to the president demanding that the President declassifying documents (hat tip: Gateway Pundit):

It’s always wonderful to see someone call a bully’s bluff.

And that’s the great thing about Trump. Trump never starts the arguments, but he always finishes them. It’s often an ugly process, but it really is the only way to deal with a bully — and when it comes to bullying, nobody beats the Left.
