University of California President, Janet Napolitano, between shutting down free speech, indoctrinating and churning out useful idiots is suing the Trump administration over the phasing out her creation, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA).

Washington Times by Stephen Dinan

Janet Napolitano, who created the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program as President Obama’s homeland security secretary, is now the president of the University of California and is leading the school system’s lawsuit demanding the program be reinstated.

She said her school system stands to lose money and the chance to educate some of its 4,000 illegal immigrant students, as well as perhaps having to let go its illegal immigrant staff. “We really support out DACA students and part of the reason we’re filing this lawsuit it to help protect their rights,” Ms. Napolitano said….

Too late, Big Sister. Can’t say it’s about the children after just admitting that it’s all about the money.

Ms. Napolitano said Mr. Trump didn’t give good legal reasons for the phaseout, and said he needed to go through the normal rule-making process to revoke the policy — though Ms. Napolitano skipped over that policy herself in creating DACA.

In a call with reporters Friday, Ms. Napolitano said that even though DAPA was ruled illegal, she believes DACA is different enough that it would pass muster[…]

See excerpts of Janet Napolitano’s press release below:

…UC President Janet Napolitano, who was secretary of DHS from 2009 to 2013, created the DACA program in 2012, setting in place a rigorous application and security review process. Applicants for DACA were only approved if they were in or had graduated from high school or college, or were in the military, or an honorably discharged veteran. They cannot have been convicted of a felony or major misdemeanor or otherwise pose a threat to national security or public safety.

“Neither I, nor the University of California, take the step of suing the federal government lightly, especially not the very agency that I led,” Napolitano said. “It is imperative, however, that we stand up for these vital members of the UC community. They represent the best of who we are — hard working, resilient and motivated high achievers. To arbitrarily and capriciously end the DACA program, which benefits our country as a whole, is not only unlawful, it is contrary to our national values and bad policy….”

This is personal.

In addition to being all about the Benjamins, this is personal and the legacy of Janet  Napolitano, a major player in opening borders to illegal aliens, who demonized and tied the hands of ICE agents and gutted border patrol funds.

The funding cuts were blamed on sequestration. Not true!  See: Maggie’s Notebook: Border Patrol Sequestration: Horizontal Cuts Not Horizontal: Napolitano Guts Border Patrol.

Adding to her legacy, former Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano has the blood of murdered and wounded border patrol agents on her hands, not that she gives a damn.

The lawsuit asks the court to set aside the Trump administration’s rescission of DACA because it is “unconstitutional, unjust, and unlawful….”

“As a result of the Defendants’ actions, the Dreamers face expulsion from the only country that they call home, based on nothing more than unreasoned executive whim,” the complaint reads….

Big Sister’s quest for vengeance is morally unethical and dishonest. It is a known fact to both Janet Napolitano and Barack Obama that DACA is unconstitutional. In Obama’s few instances of honesty while in the White House, he admitted that he had no legal or constitutional authority to change immigration law before playing king…again.

Will Napolitano’s lawsuit will be funded by taxpayers?

Napolitano’s press release states that “The lawsuit was filed with the pro bono support of the law firm Covington & Burling, LLP.” Covington & Burling LLP is Eric Holder’s lawfirm.

A weak argument since Progressives love spending other people’s money.

Between the 2014/2015 projected period, UC-Berkeley received  $387.2 million in federal funding and during the2016/2017 projected period,  the university received $847.5 million in federal funding.  How much of a surprise would it be to later learn that Napolitano directed federal funds to pay legal fees in her case against the Trump administration very much in the same way that UC-Berkeley is using taxpayer dollars to fund an October 2017 Resistance event.  [H/t on the latter Red Alert Politics]

Napolitano is another Marxist ideologue linking up with judicial activists in federal court to ensure that her legacy does not go up in smoke and the University of California’s honey pot doesn’t run dry but don’t worry, there is always taxpayer dollars.

Finally, on Monday, California and Minnesota, Maryland and Maine (no surprise) also filed lawsuits against the Trump administration on DACA.
