For some reason, I was thinking about this scene this week. It’s fun to watch as the music take over and both John Book (Harrison Ford) and Rachel (Kelly McGillis) overcome their initial reticence – because dancing is against the mores of her society and they both know they have no future together – and dance. Watch her nervous smile until he takes her hand and melts her initial inhibitions away. They dance in a bubble unworried by any complications until interrupted by reality in the person of her father, Eli.
